Mind and Body Care for Winter Wellness
It is always important to prioritize mind and body care wellness,
but even more so during the winter months!
Taking the time and checking in with yourself can make a big difference between overworked and stressed out or balanced and living intentionally. Just a few minutes daily or weekly spent on yourself can dramatically improve your mindset!
I hope these tips are a good reminder that mind and body care is whatever you need it to be!
Move Your Body
Even if you aren’t able to do a full workout or go for a run, take a few minutes each day to at least stretch out. This isn’t going to burn calories like a HIIT circuit, but if your exercise options are limited this still creates the routine to check-in with yourself, focus on your breathing and ensure a few moments of moving your body. Yoga, a simple stretching routine, or a dance party in your living room will go a long way until you can get back to your usual routine.
In the cooler months, we aren’t as active typically so we don’t get dehydrated naturally as in the Spring and Summer. This means it’s easy to forget to hydrate! Staying hydrated is important for boosting your immune system because it allows your body to carry away toxins and provide vital nutrients to cells that keep us healthy!
I even have some tips for staying hydrated you can read more here!
Truthfully, we all know that a salad sounds less appetizing in winter. Try smoothies or soups to pack in the vitamins! However you choose to eat your fruits and vegetables, be sure to include a variety of healthy, nutrient-dense meals to fuel your body. It is working extra hard this time of year to keep you from getting sick!
After the holidays wind down, it is easy to lose touch with friends and family. Make a priority to reach out routinely. This will prevent you from feeling isolated and by pre-scheduling a time to catch up, it’ll give you something to look forward to!
While it is important to connect, don’t let yourself get rundown by over-scheduling your time! This means virtual time, too. It’s okay to unplug and focus on being present. Overstimulation online or in-person are equally draining so be protective of your time. Allow yourself time to rest and make time for activities that recharge your mental, physical, and emotional well-being!
