Gallery Wall Art Inspiration
We all love a gallery wall don’t we?! It’s a staple decor element in almost every home these days.
I recently created a new gallery wall in our home above my treasured grandmother’s piano. I wanted something simple and artistic with neutral tones. And in today’s post, I’ll show you the process from start to finish and hopefully give you some inspiration for your next gallery wall.
Gallery Wall Before & After

Getting Inspired on Pinterest

Before ordering my prints and frames, I do what we all do: I scrolled Pinterest for inspiration!
I found this photo pretty quickly into my search, it even features a piano so I knew it was meant to be! It immediately became my inspiration for my new gallery wall.
Our piano is a formal, shiny black, so I knew I wanted to use the gallery wall to tone down the space to a more moderately-casual vibe. I envisioned wooden frames, neutral tones in the prints, and some pops of black in a few of the prints to tie the wall in with our piano.

Ordering Prints & Frames
Today’s post is in partnership with Desenio. They make the gallery wall process really easy, and I am thrilled to partner with them to show you my process of putting together our new gallery wall.
And I especially love Desenio’s commitment to sustainability and bettering our planet.

First, I selected how many frames I wanted for my wall. I chose five, to match my Pinterest inspiration photo. Then I added 5 frames to my cart: two large (50x70cm), one medium (30x40cm), and two small (21x30cm). You can choose from lots of colors & styles; I chose all Oak frames for a casual, clean vibe.
PRO TIP: Include at least one large frame in your gallery wall for a more professional look.
NOTE: To make this process even easier, you can also scroll through Desenio’s vast selection of beautiful pre-designed gallery walls, but I opted to create my own design from scratch so I could customize it even more!
Next, I chose my five prints and added them to my cart, making sure to keep in mind the orientation for each print in its frame. And if you’re as indecisive as me, then this is the part that will take you the longest!
PRO TIP: Choose 1 or 2 prints that can be used either vertical or horizontal orientation in their frames, that way it leaves you some flexibility if you decided to change the gallery wall layout later. Thank goodness I did this, because I DID end up changing my design!
Desenio also have a Design Tool that allow you to see what your prints all look like together before ordering.
Installing The Gallery Wall
This is the LEAST fun part. So I made my husband do it. Hehe!
There are a lot of ways to hang a gallery wall. No matter what way you choose, step 1 is to always lay out your gallery wall on the floor.
I also laid it out with the exact distances between the frames that I wanted on the wall, measured, and drew a sketch with the exact measurements.

We chose to hang the large, central photo first, centering it above our piano. Then we moved the piano out of the way and measured out the rest, one frame at a time.
And yes, we messed up our measurements and had to redo some. Just keepin’ it real!
But just look how it came out! We love it so much!

& that's it!
